Tropicana Lanes Ashtray Wall Art

Tropicana Lanes, located on 11163 South Prairie Ave, Inglewood, CA, opened sometime in the late 1950s. It was 2 stories and held 56 bowling lanes. The building and parking lot were owned by the Eisenburg family who took particularly good care of its maintenance. It was a 24/7 establishment that offered pool and gambling, in addition to bowling. Tropicana Lanes also homed the Kon-tiki (Contiki) Room and Bar. Many people of the time commented that Tropicana Lanes was fancy and even revolutionary in the services it offered. Unfortunately, the building burned down in 1988. Even to this day, there are speculations that the destruction of Tropicana Lanes was an inside job filled with allegations of insurance fraud, neglect from homeless tenants, and government intervention due to Caltrans and the need to create the 105 freeway.
