Nickodell Melrose Restaurant Ashtray Wall Art

There were two Nickodell restaurants in Los Angeles, but this one located on 5511 Melrose Avenue was the more beloved of the two. It was originally known as Melrose Grotto with the slogan "Everybody who knows Hollywood knows Melrose Grotto". It was built into the side of a movie studio that was once RKO Studios, Desilu, and finally Paramount. Nickodell served cocktails and steaks to new and seasoned stars. Many patrons lovingly remember their excellent tableside caesar salads. The famous show, I Love Lucy, tried to cast Desi Arnaz, who would eventually take the role of Ricky Ricardo, and many important meetings like this all happened at Nickodell Melrose Restaurant. This icon of media history eventually closed its doors on November 30th, 1993.
