A high quality art print of an ashtray from Little Joe's Italian Restaurant, Los Angeles, California. Vintage, circa 1970s. Framed in 3/8" extruded aluminum metal. Made in the USA.
Little Joe's Italian Restaurant was an iconic eatery located on 904 North Broadway (even though our ashtray says 900 instead). It opened in 1897 as the Italian-American Grocery Company. Its first owner is debated between Charley Viotto and John Nuccio, both Italian immigrants of that time. The business eventually moved to the North Broadway area and the market just turned into a restaurant. After WWI, John Nuccio retired and sold the restaurant to his best friend, John Gadeschi. Nuccio's son will come to marry Gadeschi's daughter, bringing the restaurant back into the Nuccio family. Little Joe's was a hotspot for Dodger fans due to its proximity with the stadium. In December of 1998, Little Joe's closes down due to a combination of needing major renovations and it being in the middle of Chinatown. It would eventually be replaced with the Chinatown Blossom Plaza.
