The Flamingo Las Vegas, opened in 1946, was founded by Billy Wilkerson and later acquired by Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel. The Hilton Hotels Corporation purchased the casino and hotel in the 1970s before being obtained by the Caesars Entertainment group in 2005. It is famous for being one of the first hotels to be erected in the Las Vegas Strip, its neon sign being hallmark to the area.
